For how long will you keep the package before it is sent back to the sender?

The tracking numbers I have from China Post is AQ527412569CN. I was never given the second tracking number for Canada after I called and was given it which is 102 303 878 558 9906. Unfortunately it was too late as it had been back to return sender's mailroom Oct. 19. It is likely en route or already back to seller. I am disappointed as I paid and wanted the item.
