How do I find out if my package is stuck in customs?

My order, tracking # LZ244182996CN, arrived in it's county of destination, Colombia, but I have not heard of it since July 3, 2025. Is it possible that it's being held by customs? Do I need to pay a import duty or declare it or something? How can I find out the status? Or is it just a slow process for it to be shipped from the port to its final destination in Bogotá?

Hi Sean,
It appears your package (tracking # LZ244182996CN) has arrived in Colombia but hasn't moved since July 3, 2025. This delay could be due to customs processing, pending fees, or slow local delivery. Here’s how to check its status and resolve any issues:
1. Check Local Colombian Courier Tracking
Since the package has arrived in Colombia, China Post's tracking may not update further. Try tracking it on:
Colombia’s postal service (Servicios Postales Nacionales S.A.): https://www.4-72.com.co
2. Contact Colombian Customs
If the package is held by customs, you may need to:
Pay import duties: Colombia imposes taxes on imports over $200 USD (varies by product type).
Submit a declaration: Some shipments require additional paperwork.
Contact Colombian Customs (DIAN):
Website: https://www.dian.gov.co
Phone: +57 601 607 9999 (Bogotá)
Email: [email protected]
3. Contact the Sender (China Post / Seller)
Ask if they have an updated local tracking number for Colombia.
Request they contact Colombian customs on your behalf (some sellers assist with customs clearance).
4. Wait for a Notification
Colombian customs or the local post office may send a letter/SMS/email requesting payment or documents.
If no update after 10-15 business days, follow up aggressively.
Possible Reasons for Delay
✅ Normal customs processing (Colombia can take 5-10 business days).
⚠️ Pending import tax payment (check DIAN’s portal).
⚠️ Missing paperwork (commercial invoice, proof of purchase, etc.).
⚠️ Slow local delivery (Colombia’s postal service can be delayed).
Next Steps
Track on local Colombian platforms (4-72 or private couriers).
Call DIAN or visit a local customs office if no updates.
Prepare payment (if duties apply).
