Wrong telephone number

I posted a parcel to Zhenzhou and it is stuck at customs.
The receiver says they can’t arrange for clearance because the telephone number on the parcel is incorrect. How can i contact Chinese customs or China post to update the telephone number? I have tried through the courier (DPD) but they have been no help.

Hi James,
Having an incorrect phone number causing a package to be unable to clear customs is indeed very troublesome. According to regulations, customs cannot directly modify recipient information; this operation must be completed by the logistics carrier.
Since you mentioned that DPD cannot provide assistance, we suggest that the recipient in China immediately contact China Post (EMS) or Zhengzhou Customs to communicate directly with customer service for assistance.
Core Solution: Which organization to contact and which phone number to call?
We recommend trying the following priority order:
Contact Person | Role and Explanation Contact Number ⓵ First Choice
China Post International Customer Service | Responsible for modifying phone numbers. This is the officially designated channel for modifying recipient information. 11183 (First Number)
Zhengzhou Post Office Customs | Responsible for clearing all inbound and outbound mail in the Zhengzhou area. If your package is stuck in the customs clearance process, you can call this number to inquire about the specific reason. 0371-61662000 (Second Number)
National Customs Service Hotline | A general policy consultation hotline that can help you check the status of your package or provide more specific processing guidance. 0371-12360 (Third Digit)
Please note: Before calling, please ensure you have your international mail tracking number and the recipient's ID information ready for quick verification by customer service.
Suggestions for Recipients
Besides phone communication, you can also have your recipient in China try the following methods:
Inquiry and Declaration: Have the recipient log in to the "Customs Mobile App" or the "Single Window Mobile App". In the "One-Stop Processing of Inbound and Outbound Mail" section, enter the tracking number to check the package status. If the system displays "Pending Supplementary Declaration", you may be able to skip the incorrect phone number and operate directly online.
Offline Inquiry: If you cannot get through by phone, the recipient can also go directly to the Zhengzhou Post Office Customs Service Hall at No. 84 Hanfeng Road, Zhengdong New District, Zhengzhou City, for on-site consultation using their ID card and tracking number.
Important Reminder
Customs' Responsibilities are Limited: Please remember that Customs is only responsible for supervising the contents of the package and has neither the right nor the obligation to directly change your recipient's phone number or address in the system. The responsible party for this process is always China Post, which handles the transportation.
Please process promptly: If the package cannot be cleared through customs due to the inability to contact the recipient for an extended period, it may be returned to the sender, in which case you will incur double shipping costs. Please handle this as soon as possible.
