Parcel stuck in China customs. But why?

I have returned a parcel to a China address from UK. Tracking number L0423605964GB The parcel was:
● Posted on 29 May 2026
● Left the UK on 30 May 2026
● Received in China on 3 June 2026
● Presented to customs in Shenzhen on 5 June 2026 It has remained in customs since that date. The tracking currently states: “This item is still being assessed by the destination customs authority. If any further information is required before release they will contact the recipient directly.”
I have heard nothing or have no reason as to why the parcel remains in customs. How can I check if there is a problem?
