Hi Bryan,
Reasons your parcel is stuck at Australian import customs (tracking shows customs inspection as of 30 Jun)
1. Routine random customs inspection (most common)
Australian Border Force (ABF) randomly selects international parcels for physical or document checks, even if your items are legal. Your tracking line The import customs keep it for inspection means your package was picked for standard screening—this happens frequently with China-Australia cross-border shipments and does not automatically mean you have violated rules.
2. Incomplete or mismatched declaration information
The declared item name, quantity, value, material, or purpose does not match the actual contents inside the parcel.
Undervalued goods: If you declared a far lower price than the real worth of your items, customs will hold it to verify value for GST/duty calculation.
Missing clear descriptions: Vague labels like "gift", "clothes", "accessories" without specific details trigger extra checks.
3. Restricted/prohibited goods inside
Australia has strict biosecurity and import rules. If your parcel contains any of the following, customs will detain it:
Food, dried plants, seeds, herbal medicine, wooden crafts (biosecurity risk)
Cosmetics, skincare, supplements without Australian certification
Batteries, liquid items with unstandardized packaging
Counterfeit branded goods, unapproved electronics
4. Tax & duty verification
If the total value of your goods exceeds Australia’s duty-free threshold, customs will pause delivery to issue a tax invoice. They need to confirm valuation before releasing the parcel.
5. Backlog at the airport customs warehouse
Peak shipping periods cause large volumes of incoming parcels at Australian destination airports, creating processing delays for inspection teams. Your shipment has been in customs status for multiple days due to heavy workloads.
What you can do to speed up release
Contact your shipping agent/FYGJ logistics to ask them to submit supplementary declaration documents (purchase screenshots, item details, product photos) to Australian customs.
Check your order chat to confirm if you need to pay import GST/duty online.
Confirm no prohibited items are included in your package.
Wait 3–7 working days first: Most routine inspection parcels are released automatically without extra action if everything complies with rules.
